Hi :
I'm not really good at understanding poems..
Can you plz answer my question .

CRABBÈD Age and Youth
Cannot live together:
Youth is full of pleasance,
Age is full of care;
Youth like summer morn,
Age like winter weather;
Youth like summer brave,
Age like winter bare.
Youth is full of sport,
Age's breath is short;
Youth is nimble, Age is lame;
Youth is hot and bold,
Age is weak and cold;
Youth is wild, and Age is tame.
Age, I do abhor thee;
Youth, I do adore thee;
O, my Love, my Love is young!
Age, I do defy thee:

I'm assuming that you mean what is the rhyming pattern... there are two patterns,
the first 8 lines have a pattern of :-
A B C D E B F C (that means that line 2 rhymes with line 6 and line 4 with line 8)
Then the pattern changes:-
A A B C C B D D F D (line 9 and 10 rhyme, line 12 and 13, 11 and 14, 15 and 16 and 18.)
A pattern is also evident in the beginings of the lines 3 onwards up to 16, they begin with age then youth alternately.
Usually the pattern of a poem is the way it rhymes. However, a repetitive theme can also create a pattern (age and youth).

I am not really sure but I think it is a comparison between Age and Youth. They all have syllables of 5, 6, and 7. Sometimes like a haiku.

Parallelism might be what you're looking for, though there might be a more specific technical term.

"Parallelism means to give two or more parts of the sentences a similar form so as to give the whole a definite pattern."

For example ____ I do ____ thee, where you can use Youth and adore or Age and defy.
