The definitely deserve a tip in my opinion. When has your waiter/waitress ever brought your food out in the pouring rain, went back in to run your credit card, and then came back out in the pouring rain to give you your receipt.

Plus, people in their cars are in a really big hurry, so they have a tendency to be a little more cranky. If you're a curbside worker, I salute you.

I think most people that the same attitude with buffets. They think that they don't have to tip for the service that they receive. It's bull crap I tell you!

I DO tip at both buffets and curbside to go. I usually use the standard 15% unless the waitress is really nice and I'll tip more. At the very least you should tip $1 per person per drink at a buffet and $2 per order (if you order food for 4 people then you should tip about $8 since that should equal to roughly 15%. And yes, carside to go includes stuff like Chili's, Applebee's and Outbacksteak House. Now for places like Sonic and other drive in's, I tip $1 per order of food.

Restaurants try to pay their employees as little as possible, so that curbside worker might not even be making minimum wage and depends on tips to make some money. I always tip my curbside worker just as much as I would if I go into the establishment. It's a great service and it's worth it! They always remember the good tippers and make sure to give you extra attention the next time you order.

If you're talking about fast food restaurants like McD's, etc. They aren't ALLOWED to accept a tip. I know when I worked Jack in the Box for a few months as a 2nd job for some extra cash, I was told that accepting a tip and not returning it would get me written up.

If you're talking about people like pizza or food delivery, or carside service (like Applebee's To Go) absolutely they should get tipped! Especially if it's a sports night or the weather sucks.

lol -- i think generally it's got too much of a 'fast food' feeling for it to merit a 'tip.' at least, it did for me until i talked to a friend who used to be a curbside waiter -- and since then i've tipped every time!

and personally, the enjoyment i get from seeing their shock that someone is actually TIPPING them... i love it. i honestly just think most people don't give it an honest thought!

they don't seat you, take your order for you, set a table for you, offer you what ever is on special or bring you refills. You phone the order in and then go pick it up all they do is bring it out to you.
