With North Korea and Iran flexing their nuclear muscles and Israel unleasing its furry in the middle east, its seems that there is a major conflict on the horizon with the United States square in the middle. What do you think?

While these events are undoubtely disturbing, I do not believe that WWIII is anywhere in the soon future. While Israel is attacking Palestine, and more recently Lebanon, that is a regional conflict that the world is keeping a close eye on. If this conflict escalates into anything more than this, I believe that the UN will intervene with possible sanctions and/or military action if necessary. As far as the nuclear situation in North Korea, there are talks now of economic sanctions without the U.N.'s approval due to the security council being split on what to do about the recent tests. As far as U.S. intervention is concerned in these conflicts: 1.) The U.S. cannot afford another war right now 2.) The world now percieves the U.S. as a meddler in world affairs or a police power. Due to this last fact, I believe that the U.S. will do all it can to resolve all conflicts peacefully until the point at which we have the money to spend on more conflicts. So, in answer to your question: no, we are not on the brink of WWIII.
