Yes.
It was published some time ago that the average person swallows about 5 spiders during their lifetime while they sleep.
I read the website saying this is not true but that site is just someone's opinion. Having lived on a ranch, I can tell you that I have been awakened by a spider near my mouth as well as a scorpion on my throat. Neither bit me but it is possible. Of coarse, at a ranch in Texas there are a lot more bugs than an appartment somewhere in the city!!!
I would not worry about it. I've never heard of a spider bite inside a mouth of someone and such a spider might be very small anyway.

Jaz, I think your question stems from the common myth that "humans eat 4 spiders a year" because they crawl in your mouth while you sleep. While a spider could in fact crawl in there, it isn't possible to eat them because of this: when a person is sleeping with their mouth open, they MUST be breathing through their mouth. While breathing through your mouth, your esophagus (the tube to your stomach) is closed off by a piece of tissue in your throat that keeps air out of your digestive tract. This makes it impossible to eat one while sleeping.
Another thought on the matter....do you really think a spider is stupid enough to crawl right into the mouth of something that might eat it?

It seems possible, but pretty unlikely. I've also heard about the above mentioned "study" in which the average person was found to have swallowed (fill in the blank) number of spiders while sleeping, over the course of a year. It seems to be an urban myth though. Check out this link for a more detailed explination.

It is very unlikely when someone does love them, it is seen. Now some unfortunate will get bit because of their need of insuline and meager love of spiders. Most spiders do not bite unless eating, and only 2% of bites are poisonous. Sometimes I see spiders and like their presence, a few of them hang above me when I awake, they like it. It is not always pleasant to see a poisonous spider hanging above, let it be.

that is a really ludicrous urban myth that is going around.
spiders have no interest in going inside dark places lined with saliva soaked membranes. there are no bugs in there! they either rest at night, or spin their webs at night, depending on the species.

Yes they can. One crawled on my face one night and bit my check. I have a nasty scar from it.
