Normally, the computer should automatically do that for you. If it doesn't, then select "st" with your mouse and go to Format on your window then select Font. Then in the Font window, check the box that says Superscript.

Most word processing software will automatically format numbers this way as soon as you press the space bar after typing 1st. If you're trying to do this outside of a word processor, i don't know what to tell you. You could always type it in MS Word and then copy and paste it to wherever you are typing it.

If you're in Word, type the 1. Then go to format, font and x in superscript. Type in the st. go back to format, font and un-x the superscript

IF YOU'RE USING A WORD DOCUMENT OF ANY KIND, YOU JUST TYPE "1ST" AND IT SHOULD DO IT ON IT'S OWN. OTHER THAN THAT, I HAVE NO CLUE.

(between > < you put your letters you want smaller.
