I have a house cleaning business and while cleaning a home today I can upon many black worms. They ranged in size from 1 cm to 1 - 1 1/2 in. long. They are no thicker around than a Q-Tip (the stick between the ends). What are they? They showed up overnight according to the homeowner. Can ANYONE help me, do I need to call an exterminator????

I worked at a restaurant that shall remain nameless, and I found these worms in the backstok area where we kept our uniforms. They were nowhere near the food. We also had a whirlpool bathtub that we never used, and I turned it on one day before we moved, and these worms came out.

When the restaurant was renovated, they tore out all of the wood storage cabinets, and these worms were everywhere in the wood. Your homeowner needs to check to see if there is some sort of damage to his/her cabinets from water. They seem to be drawn to moisture and wood. I am no expert on worms or wood, but it seems that they could have been termite larvae. Maybe? It really doesn't matter, just tell them to get it checked immediately because they will not go away.

Pavement Ants
These are dark brown to black ants that are found on sidewalks and parking lots, wandering crazily in search of food. They commonly kick up sand in pavement expansion joints, and this is often seen in the joint between the garage slab and the driveway of a home. In their proper place they are natures garbage collectors, but when infesting your patio or when they come indoors, they're nearly unbearable. Contact Cascade for more information or to schedule a treatment.

Call an exterminator immediately. Try spraying them with some kind of poison too.

they should call the exterminator, these may be larvae of an oncoming infestation, and should be dealt with immediately.
