as a gay man, I will not overreact to this question as some might. Let's look at the question.

"Why is it impossible to change a persons sexual orientation?cannot a person force his psychie to think "straight"

what IS a person's sexual "orientation?" Is it behavior? no, behavior is distinct from orientation. I can change my behavior though. I could perform behaviors associated with straight guys. I could do what straight guys do (assuming we're breaking it down strictly to sexual interaction with females) and have sex with a woman. been there, done that. doesn't make me straight.

Orientation is something other than behavior then. the closest comparison I think is being left or right handed. I'm also left handed. I can put a pen in my right hand and move it over paper. my behavior is that of a right handed person. doesn't feel right though. Doesn't usually turn out legible either. it's not the way my brain, and thus my body, works. Put it in my left hand, and now we're talking.
Could I train myself to use my right hand? Possibly. would it be "right" (correct) for me? no.
Nelson Rockefeller (vice president under Gerald Ford) was born left handed. He was raised to only use his right hand. Turned out, he ended up not able to write at all. It messed his brain up. Back then, right handed was the only way to be. Better to not write at all, than use your left. Made you odd, or perhaps "queer" (classical sense)
We've come a long way. aside from bumping elbows in restaurants, there's not so much anti lefty crusading going on. That is better than it was. We've progressed, and I'm in no hurry to regress.
I believe that society will become more civilized, and living next door to a gay couple will be like going to a restaurant, and the only exchange might be "I need to sit on the end, I'm a lefty" and aside from changing seats the issue is a non-issue.

Why would anyone want to change just because something is considered "wrong" by society?
No one choses to be gay, those who are not born gay, they chose to love, and if that love is from the same sex, so be it! Im not about to change my life just because people dont agree. I dont agree with religion but I dont try and make people not believe! Its a choice, you make it! Dont try and change someone just because you think what they do is wrong, chances are that person you want to change probably thinks how you live your life is wrong. Everyone is entitled to freedom, freedom to live there life how they choose, it is up to the individual, no one else and they most definately shouldnt let outside influences change there opinions/views.
Are you straight? If you are.. Can you force yourself to think "gay" whenever a question is asked about homosexuality, just change, Gay, Lesbian. homosexual to straight and answer the question yourself and you should get a good idea of what our answer will be!

It is possible and you are not a living lie... God gave you to your parents as a boy or girl not gay or lesbian. You can still change if you want to... There was this man who's gay and he's rich. He changed his male body into a female body. But people started not accepting the way he is. Probably he got pressured and he started loving and trusting God. Then he knew that being the way he is is wrong and he decided to be his normal self again, being a man again. But the problem is he can't change his female body into a male body again. Eventhough he got back on being straight, his body isn't.

I guess you could but I have a feeling the person who forced themselves to be straight would be VERY unhappy in their life.

That would be hurting yourself. Lying to yourself and everyone else around you.
Why not just accept who you are? Whats the problem with acceptance now adays?
Living a lie hurts.

because you can't change that anymore than you can change your skin color or eye or hair color or whether you are tall or short, etc.
we are born that way, and "changing" that is not only impossible, but unnatural. people who claim to be "ex-gay" are living a lie and repressing their true selves because they have been brain-washed by Bible-thumping bigots.

You can force yourself to "think gay" for awhile, but it will ultimately feel really REALLY wrong for you. Doesn't work that way.
As for "why", that's just the way the human brain is wired.
