click the start menu..

type in "msconfig"

click on your startup tab first. Type in the name of each thing that appears into the search engine at sysinfo.org. Use the key to determine whether you should leave it running or not.

When you're done with the startup tab, go to the "services" tab and do the same thing.

This is an easy way to drastically increase the speed of your PC. Oh, and you have to restart after you change all this stuff...

36 process is pretty good for xp pro! you can shut off some services: go here to see whats needed and not:
