Yes, you can, but it makes it harder to begin. One does not start at the "decent" job he wants. Not usually. Most people begin in an entry level position. What you might be asking is, with out a diploma, can I get past the guy doing the hiring?
There it is. The one guy who has your application/resume in his hand. How importan is it to HIM if you don't have it.
A diploma shows him that you have, at least the patience to stick it out. Imagine him thinking, "If this guy felt he was never really big on school, so, he just gave it up, what happens when he comes across a job assignment he's not really big on?"
Not haveing a diploma makes your application stick out like a sore thumb. It makes you different, and not in a good way. Ten or twenty years down the line, it makes less difference. You will have job experiences to show your skills and trak record. Your college course will help ONLY if they directly apply to the job you are trying for.

No.
While the military may be a good career, with just a HS diploma you will never be promoted higher than an enlisted man. Officers have educations. You could go to the military and use the G.I. bill and educational benefits and acquire an education. If you decided to continue with the military, you'd likely be eligible for promotions up the ladder. Even if you don't continue with the military, you'd have more of an education as well as military experience.
While you might be dedicated to whoever hires you, too often in the workplace today the employer is not dedicated to the employee - they are only dedicated to the stockholder/investor.
Community college is a good start, but you'll need more than 2 years.
Your other options are technical or trade school. Auto mechanic - they'll never send those jobs overseas. Same for electrician, plumber, etc. They're good paying, but lots of hard work. If you were to find a job with someone first, you might also get them to assist with some school and you'd work for them as an apprentice.

A good work ethic goes a long way. Although you may find it difficult to get a job because most jobs require you have skills it does not hurt to ask. Obviously, you must focus on jobs that do not require a college education.
Unfortunately, an AA degree isn't any more helpful than a high school diploma. It basically means you dropped out after your second year instead of your first.
One way to build your skills is through volunteering. You will not get paid but you will learn valuable skills and get personal references that will help you get a better paying job. (Another way to think about it is that it doesn't cost you anything to volunteer, unlike going to school.) A great site is http://www.volunteermatch.org/
Good Luck!

There are people that work at McDonald's and Walmart, so you shouldn't dismiss them as jobs. But to your question: what are you good at? Fast at typing: clerical job Good with your hands: home depot, construction hobbies: photography assistant, library, book store Access what you're good at and then you'll be that much closer to getting a job. If you need a job, you should be open-minded. If you can't be open minded, then you know that a customer service job may not be for you (but maybe you could be a politician).

I work at a convience store and make $7.00 a hr. But I also go to school. I always heard if you want to make good $$ and get insurance which is really important then you need to be in college. But I go to a communtiy college.. To me it's just as good as a Associates at a university.

Think about the entrepreneurs and business owners who didn't graduate college. Heck, Bill Gates dropped out of college so he could write computer language interpreters -- and just look at him now.
Don't drop out of college unless you're going to hire yourself.
Good luck.
