When I started the pill my doctor told me that it will not be effective for a month. Also if u forget to take one take it as soon as u remember, don't skip it, and u will not be protected for 24hrs. If u miss more than one she said u might not be protected for a month. Of course, the affects of birth control can depend on the woman and the type of pill. I continued to use condoms about six month after I started the pill just to be safe, but if u do not know the person very well, use a condom too. STD's
Hope this helped.

I takes between 4 and 6 weeks for the pill to become effective in preventing pregnancy.

You can still have sex, of course, but you should use other precautions.

While the literature included with birth control pills says two weeks, to be safe you should wait one full cycle of the pills.

You seriously need to be careful now. Before you were on the pill it was more likely for you to get an STD than to get pregnant. Now you are even 10 TIMES more likely to get an STD. Those who are sexually active have on average at least 2 STDs. & if you are sexually active you need to be checked for chlomidia EVERY 6 mos. If you do have an STD it is very likely you will end up stile & possibly dead. I hope you dont want that, cause it is worse for you than guy EVERY TIME!!!! Guaranteed.

1: You could call the doctor back
2: Or the simple route would be read the directions for use usually printed on the case.

I Think you're supposed to wait a month though to be sure it taken effect... then again... I'm a guy... what do I know.

Better safe than pregnant if you're not ready for kids yet.

If I remember right, you need to wait at least 2 weeks. In the meantime, use some alternative method.
