To be honest, a pregnant woman is never "past" the miscarriage rate. You can lose a child at any given time. I'm not trying to be mean, but if you care about this baby so much then throw your cigarettes in the trash and never look back. You should do some research on how cigarette smoke affects unborn children. I had a friend who miscarried at 5 months, so you are never in the clear until the baby is born. Smoking can cause premature birth, low birth weight, serious health problems, pregnancy complications, SIDS....You should really do your homework before conceiving a child. If you're not supposed to drink a lot of caffeine while you are pregnant, what makes you think smoke is ok?

oh my god, you need to stop smoking right now. i can't believe the only reason you want to quit is so you don't miscarry, which the smoking probably contributed to before. Though you may not miscarry from smoking during pregnancy, the baby could still have permanent health problems for the rest of its life! Do you know how many toxins and hormones they put in tobacco?! Do you know what that can do to a baby!? Making sure the baby's heart rate is good isn't enough as the smoking can cause many other problems that you can't see on an ultrasound, and that may appear later. You are still in early pregnancy so if you quit now, your baby should be relatively healthy, god willing. Chew some nicotine gum, though the nicotine isn't good for you or the baby, it's 100 times better than the crap the put in tobacco which can cause real birth defects.

I'm not sure about quitting cold turkey hurting your baby, I have h heard both sides. You should call your dr. see what he says. You know smoking is bad for you and your child. I know how hard it is I am a smoker myself. I have quit before it isn't as bad as you think it will be. Hey an upside is you can eat whenever b/c your pg you need the extra food right?! J/k. Go get some gum or lolly pops that will help. And you can miscarry any time I had a friend miscarry at 4 mo. b/c of smoking(she had some blood disorder and smoking did not help). Good luck to you. Relize how lucky you are to be pg. I am still trying and would give up anything to be where you are.

You definitely need to quit but stop beating yourself up about not having quit yet just do it now. Yes cold turkey is safe just uncomfortable. Your baby will be fine as bad as smoking is for the baby and mommy you have to remember in our parents generation there were very few moms who were advised by their doctor to even try quitting and most of their children came out great. I am proud of you for doing this for your new baby.
I too had several miscarriages and though no one can tell you that you are absolutely safe in about another week you will be into your second trimester and that is one those milestones. I know that you are frantic right now but try to relax and follow your doctors orders, eat healthy, and get lots of rest that is about all you can do. What a wonderful mommy you are going to be I am so excited for you. Good Luck feel free to e-mail me if you need to talk to someone that has been there.

listen dont get scared from what some of these people say. im a mother of 2 beautiful boys and i am pregnant with my third. i smoked with all of mine including the one i am carrying now. i cut down but could never quit cold turkey. both my children are healthy and the one in my stomach is healthy. dont stress over quiting so much that can be bad for the baby. look at it like this: everyone i dont smoke is helping my baby. if you smoke 6 untill the day u deliver then its better than if you had smoked 10. and the most important thing is pray for you and your baby. God bless you both!!!

First off go to a doctor...I do know that if you have strong medication and stuff that you should never stop using it because not only can it hurt you but the baby..Im not sure if its the same as smoking though...you really should see a doctor and ask or call to ask.
Try cutting the ciraggetts down by doing one less a day...try five and when you think you can cut down teo try four and keep cutting down those cigeretts till ya know you can get it out of your system

I had the same problem with my first pregnancy. My doctor said that going cold turkey could be bad for the baby because it sends you body into withdrawals. Pick a day, like a week from now, that will be your quit date. Take away one cig a day from now until then. It'll put less stress on you and the baby.

i quit smoking the day i found out i was pregnant. It is not easy, but it is best for you, and you baby! You're not out of the "risk" stage yet, so anything you can do to protect your unborn child is the best bet! Just quit. It will be a little rough at first, but anytime you want a cigarette, just talk to your baby, and tell him/her about why you're not smoking any more. I promise this will make it easier!

well its hard to stop smoking anytime and i would personally seek some medical advice on this one, but i smoked when i was pregnant all 3 times, but i did try to cut back. you could try gum or suckers, that's what i did it only helped Little with the cravings. you can still have a miscarriage almost anytime during pregnancy, but don't stress about it, i understand about the whole miscarriage part, but stress will only make it worse. but i would diffently talk to you obgyn about the smoking and what you can do to stop. yes your child can be born with health problems but your child will be ok.
