The Depo shot causes different effects on everyone. Most women's periods will stop after 3 months. Usually around the time the 2nd shot is due. However, in some woman the shot can actually cause irregular bleeding. You may have a period every 2-3 weeks for a while. Or you may stay completely regular the entire time you are on the shot. Depo does not guarantee your periods will stop. It is just a side effect some woman experience.

Usually the bleeding shouldn't start until closer to the 11th or 12th week after you get the shot. There's no need to be worried though. What you're probably experiencing is breakthrough bleeding. It's a common side effect of the shot. It's different for all women who experience it. It can vary from really light to really heavy bleeding, and it can also last a couple of days or for many days. It just depends on how your body handles the hormone. I've heard from girls who have had bleeding for most of the cycle, and some who haven't had any bleeding at all. Unfortunately, that's the breaks and there isn't much you can do about it. If you aren't happy with the side effects of the shot, you can always go to your doctor and tell them you'd like to try another method.

Every women varies. I got the depo shot for my health problem. I got 2 depo shots. The 6 months the depo was in my system. I bled the whole time until I stopped taking the shots. After my second shot wore off I never went back to get another one and I feel wonderful. So it just depends on how your body reacts to it!

Everyone has different reactions with depo. Yea it is great you only have to go in once every three months to protect against pregnancy. when i was on it the first month i had a period for 2 weeks straight, the second month it lasted 5 days and after that i did not have one for the next two years i was on it. The bad part of that was wheni finally got off of it my period was soo irregular and heavy, plus hormones went all wacky and i had so much acne problems for three months that i will never go on it again. Even though i hate taking a pill everyday. it doesn't through my system all out of wack.

i replaced into on depo for 6 years. i spotted that I gained 60 lbs in 2 months immediatly after quitting the shot. i presumed that replaced into undesirable adequate, in the previous. I had a miscarriage very last year, and now I genuinely have not been in a position to get pregnant after a year of attempting. i don't know if it is proper to depo, notwithstanding it particular appears like it to me. I genuinely have also taken different contraception besides jointly with the pill and the patch. I in common words took those for some months although. I genuinely have continually wondered if the dep. had some thing to do with my infertility.

I was put on depo because they suspect I have endometriosis which they don't know unless they cut ya open, not something I want to do but I get my periods when ever they decide to come I've noticed lately I bleed for one day it stops for a day and then it starts all over again. I don't know if there is any other form to help with the pains. if any one else has suggestions please let me know

YOU SHOULD NOT BLEED AT ALL AT ANYTIME WHEN YOUR ON THE DEPO. I WAS ON DEPO FOR THREE YEARS IT IS NOT A GOOD FORM OF BIRTH CONTROL IT CAUSES YOUR BONES TO BECOME WEAK OVER A LONG PEROD OF TIME IF I WERE YOU I WOULD TRY AN ALTERNATE METHOD.

It depends--I had the opposite side effect. When I started it, my periods went away, but as soon as I went off it, I had 2 week periods 2 weeks apart.
