Just leave her along. She's not out getting in trouble probably like you are.

If she enjoys the piano, why not let her enjoy it?

You may think that she is boring because she spends a lot of time practicing - during the hours that YOU want to have fun with her. Is that the case?

If so, it is YOU who need to respect her space, her choices, and her commitments to a teacher. Understand?

Now, that doesn't mean you can't have fun together, or you can't suggest something. Swimming in the summer is great fun, isn't it? How about jogging, or riding bikes? That's something you can enjoy with her and maybe she will get used to it and keep doing it.

Going to museums is fun, and may get her interested in other types of art. There are also summer camps and recreational programs that local parks put on - check the internet for your city and see if the park has programs.

Working on other types of musical instruments can also help your friend broaden her interests. Some unusual percussion instruments relate to ancient music traditions and are not only fun to study, but let other people participate. Drumming circles can be really cool and inclusive - unlike piano practice which is often solitary.

Thank you for taking an interest in your friend's social world. You may find your help is unwanted at first, so be gentle and get all the facts before you pressure her. Don't cause conflict with teachers or parents. And remember that your friend plays piano because she gets satisfaction from the experience - any alternative experience will lack some of that satisfaction at first, so be gentle and patient and allow your friend to understand that things take time and develop slowly.

Good luck!

The ability to make music is one of the greatest gifts there is. Get off her case. Maybe she plays piano all day because you're 'boring'.
