Use it as a nick name. Children with exotic names pay a heavy price in ridicule during childhood. Please do not saddle your child with the burdon of an exotic foreign name. Sadly, a conventional name may be the best coice. Your infant can always change her name when she gets older. I am assuming that you live in North
America and do not intend on immigrating. If you are in Africa, go ahead choose it it's a lovely name. Your child's happiness and welfare should be the most important considerations even in choosing her name.

Hello love-leigh,
If your baby is cute (and I'm sure she is!) then she's gonna make the name cute too! It's funny but it just sort of works out that way! "Akeya" is beautiful.
**There is also an old tradition of giving a baby the name of the saint (and some of them are very cool...) associated with the day (or very close to the day) that the baby was born on. And there are a lot of ancient saint's names to choose from on most days. The advantage of this is that your baby's name will not be such a random choice and she'll automatically have the blessing for life of her own patron saint!
Anyway, congratulations.
by the way...will U pleez pick this answer as the best. U R sweet if u do! thin-Q vry mch!

I like unusaul names. My favorite girls name is "Zariya". Many years ago, I met a woman in an airport with that name and she was just as beautiful. If I could go back in time, my daughter would have that name.
Instead she got: Aleigha~Nicole

I think it sounds beautiful! I might change the spelling to Akaya to enhance the "kay" sound instead of a "key" sound for people who don't know how to pronounce it properly.
