Wow, you still have a record player? That's awesome.. Yea maybe it needs a new needle. Look at the needle if it's low and touch it with your fingers if it's smooth, then you can tell the needle is old, so it need to be replace.

Wind-up gramaphones had needles. First real needles (thorns from plants) then metal ones.

Your record player needs a stylus, not a needle.

You are unlikely to find one for that player though. There are stylii available but only for upper market pickup cartridges - which will be wasted on your portable device.

If you have vinyl records that you want to play it would be much better for you to look for a decent turntable. They appear on eBay and sometimes in the specialist (Hi-Fi) press.

They are easy to change, you pull it out by the little tiny white pull tab that's very close to the arm, the later ones at least, the older ones the old old ones, like from the sixties don't have the pull tab and they had to be removed by a music guy at a record store, a real record store. ps, you are very lucky to have this.
