I don't know how old your grandmother is but what about the Great Depression,WW1,WW2, the Korean war, and Vietnam. And to go even farther back, how about the civil war or the fact that our ancestors had to come here pre revolutionary war days. Nuff said. The world has had it's problems since the beginning of time. And you never know, your child may be the future president that brings peace to the whole world!!! Best of Luck!!!

The world has always been in some type of dismay to some people. Yet, children keep being born. You grandmother is forgetting all the bad things that happened to her growing up and remembering the good things. That happens to us old folk. Have your children when you want.

I agree with your grandmother. We are living in the final days of the human race, and that is not a religious viewpoint. That is a scientific one. Why bring a child into such a miserable place. If you must have a child, adopt a child that is already born and give them a good childhood, but don't bring a new child into this world.

She's right the world's bad and only seems to get worse BUT just because the world's not progressing towards a Utopian society at the moment is no reason to stop living.
The world we live in is dangerous but we still have to work, pay taxes and deal with people we don't like so if you put up with the negatives of living in this world you shouldn't deprive yourself of the positives. And who knows your children could be the ones to make it better :)

To all those people who say there are too many unwanted children in this world, I say, yes, there are ... but one wanted child can learn to care for some of them.
To those who say that the world is in a mess, I would say that one loved child learns how to love the world and may help it out of the mess it's in.
If you truly want a child and are prepared to show it what love means, then you are giving the world the most precious thing that anyone is capable of giving - a person who is going to do wonders because they have learnt what it is to be centred.

First of, though I don't know why anyone would want a child, if you want to have it then do it. Its your ticking clock of death. Second of all, your grandmother isn't saying YOU shouldn't have children, for personal reasons, but more pertained to the fact that she probably feels like we are going to blow us up in a few years. Which I can see her point of view. So the real question is.........can you raise a child only to know that your own country will kill it?

I bet her grandmother said the same thing to her......there are always world issues and ours is no different.
When your grandmother was young WW2 was most likely going on. As much as things change they stay the same.
Have lots of babies and enjoy being a Mom!

The world has always been a mixture of wonderful and terrible -- it's just the circumstances that change. Besides, who's to say your child won't be the next Mother Teresa or Abe Lincoln or ???

Tell your grandma you firmly believe you are going to give birth to a person that has the answer to most of the world.s problems and that many people will come hundreds of miles around just to hear what your child is going to say. God knew your child before he was even in the womb and has a plan for his life.
You thought you would ask what I was thinking about it all. Well, that's what I think. You are welcome.

There are many unwanted children in the already overpopulated world. And your grandmother makes an excellent point. Why don't you adopt?
