i have a squier, i want a Gibson les paul without a pickguard. i was inspired to get a guitar when i spent the night at a friend's house. metallica musically influenced me the most in working for my dreams. i plan to get great at the guitar, maybe go to college and get a degree in music. become a guitar teacher. but the thing i want most is to be in a heavy metal band that makes great music.

I own quite a few guitars...a Guild acoustic guitar, American Custom Shop Stratocaster, American Custom Shop Telecaster, Ibanez Prestige RG570 (same as Vai's but without that dumb monkey grip cutout) made in Japan (not like the crappy Korean models), Gibson Les Paul Jimmy Page Cutom Shop, and a few others. I play through a boutique fuzz pedal called the Das Fuzz from Baja Custom (about $160 from Brian), a Budda wah pedal, and a boutique delay pedal from a guy over in Germany that has the best analog sound I have heard in a long time. My amps are always changing somewhat as I began with a very Satriani-esque setup with a small Marshall combo A/B'ed with a Roland Jazz Chorus 120; however, my new setup that I am probably not changing is my 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb for clean work with my delay routed through it and I A/B that with a Soldano Astroverb 16 head and a THD cab for dirty/lead sounds with the wah and Das Fuzz. I began playing guitar after listening to Jimmy Page's guitar work on "Lemon Song" and growing up listening to everything from Rush to UFO to the Stones to Satriani. Right now I am a professional musician who is currently making headway into the studio business as a session player and I have spent time in various bands including a recent endeavor that ended up in interest from Columbia Records...I have decided to leave despite the big break because I am focusing on finishing my degrees and going on to masters work and keeping the big labels away from my creative life...the last thing I want is some record company businessman telling me how to play or what to play. Playing the guitar is a way that I express myself and provide for myself but most of all it is for me the truest form of what I have to offer others. Keep on playing!

Well first of all ROCK ON, DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!! You sound like an awesome person. I play guitar myself and isn't it just the best thing in the world. The guitars that I own are:
1. Peavey Raptor Series (Electric Guitar) and Peavey amp and Peavey Cable
2. Lauren (Acoustic Guitar)
3. Beginner's Guitar (I keep it as a keepsake because it was my first acoustic guitar)
4. Classical Guitar (I have an old classical guitar that my grandma gave me, I just keep it as a keepsake)
My dream guitar would be a Fender Strat or a Tom Delonge Signature Guitar (Blink 182, BoxCar Racer, Angels and Airwaves). But, a Gibson Les Paul would be cool too. The guitarists that inspired me to play guitar were Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) and Tom Delonge (Blink 182, BoxCar Racer, Angels and Airwaves)and The Beatles and Aerosmith(Big influences). My favorite bands that inspired me are: Nickelback, AFI, Green Day, Angels and Airwaves, Blink 182, Sum 41, BoxCar Racer, The Who, ACDC, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, The All American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday, Skid Row, Def Lepard, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Beatles, Motley Crue, Papa Roach, Avenged Sevenfold, Hoobastank, Lost Prophets, Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park, Good Charlotte, Rage Against the Machine, Linkin Park, Goo Goo Dolls, Coldplay, The Eagles, Dashboard Confessional, Velvet Revolver, Weezer, New Found Glory, Yellowcard, Guns n Roses, Nirvana, Godsmack, Panic! At the Disco and many others. I know the basic chords and some power chords and some tabs. The songs I can play are: "Time of Your Life" - Green Day, "Wake Me Up When September Ends" intro - Green Day, "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" intro - Green Day, "There Is" BoxCar Racer, "All the Small Things" - Blink 182, "Pieces" - Sum 41, but I have to be honest that I don't know many songs because I really got into writing my own music. I have written about 20 AWESOME songs. That is my future to keep writing as much as I can and hopefully join a band. Are you in a band?? Do you like any of my bands?? I am mostly a Emo kind of writter. At the end of each song that is just what they turn out to be.
Contact me on my email find it under Guitar Player and email me
until then ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guitars I own:
-1963 Fender Newporter Acoustic (weird guitar - strat neck on an acoustic body!)
-Seagull S6 Acoustic Cedar Cutaway (nice warm folkie sound - my prized possession)
-1980s Fender Telecaster

Guitars/Accessories I want:
-Martin 12-string
-an A-style Mandolin

What inspired me:
Getting into the Beatles when I was about 8, and then getting re-inspired by Joni Mitchell & Neil Young when I was about 13.

I have been playing folk guitar for about 10 years. I am mainly a singer, though. I sing in two jam bands. Hopefully someday I'll be able to make it a career.

Looking forward to reading other people's answers.

wow, so much to say...i taught myself to play when i was 12 (4 years ago about), what inspired me to pick up a guitar was just the passioin in some people's eyes when they are playing just captured me. i own an s101 acoustic/electric, it's gorgeous and a fender squier (strat). right now i can play a bunch of stuff, i write my own music and i aspire to have my own cd some day, even if it totally sucks. i'm really into tom petty and smashing pumkins stuff. bands i like are billy talent, afi, old green day (new stuff is crap), vaz, blue october, tom petty, smashing pumkins, ac/dc, jethro toll, basicly anything rock and some punk stuff
