there is sugar free ice cream...try to find it so you don't harm your baby...
i also had gestational diabetes with both of my pregnancies, only my blood sugar would get really low...one time it was down to 14...so you really need to pay attention to what you're eating...

take care and congrats

Plain ice cream is bad w/diabetes. It's full of sugar. Cravings suck, but we don't have to give into them!

I am 31 weeks pregnant and am insulin resistant. The doctor told me to avoid simple sugars and starches to avoid a 12 pound baby. Your blood sugar levels affect you baby's levels. If your levels are high it can cause you baby to gain weight. If you found some ice cream with splenda that would be acceptable, I would think.

I had GD and eating ice cream is bad. You cant have sugar. I did however eat the sugar free ice cream which was fine. What are your levels when you test after eating?

I do not, but I know you should probably stick to what the doctors tell you to eat. I am probably on my way though. I have never eaten so much candy and sugar, but I crave it so I do understand. I also quit smoking so I am giving myself some leaway.
