Be happy about it! My sister HATES being tan and actually TRIES to make herself look pale. If you think pale is pretty, than go for it! If they're really hurting your feelings about it, try pulling them aside and casually mentioning that it hurts your feelings sometimes and you'd like it if they stopped. They probably only pick on you out of casual fun and don't realize that it actually does hurt sometimes (sometimes things people say really do hurt, even if we normally don't care what people say). I pick on my sister about being pale all the time because I know she doesn't mind. She is proud of being so pale (she'll wear SPF50 to go outside on a rainy day in December if she feels like it). I on the other hand like having a little bit of color to my skin and get upset when people tell me how pale I am.

Be happy with yourself and don't let others get you down!!! And I'm sorry so many people didn't read your whole question. You said that you think pale is pretty and they're still telling you to get a tan. Only get a tan if you really want to. You could always give it a try if you really wanted to, you might realize that a little color is pretty too. It's all up to your own personal preference, it's YOUR body! (Just be careful you don't burn, you might want to go to a professional place that does spray tanning. There's no UV rays in spray tans that can damage your skin.)

I think pale is pretty too and it should always be left up to that individual. People shouldn't tell you what to do with your skin if you're not telling them what to do with theirs.

I know exactly how you feel. I've been commented on my skin color for years. Its about half and half though. I had some people that would always tell me .. ugh why are you so white. Then I had the other people who would tell me, "Oh, I love your skin, you are so pale and you look like a porcelin doll" I believe that pale skin is absolutely gorgeous. You can either ignore them and not care or you can get a tan but don't get a tan if you don't want one. You can also hang out with goths. I promise you that they would all love your skin. I have alot of goth friends and they were the ones that were so in love with my pale skin. I'm sure you look beautiful. Don't care what other people say.

Such unhappines comes only from not accepting yourself, so many people would like to have very pale skin so many others want according to the trends of the times, but remember, nothing better then yu looking at yourself in the mirror and seeing your beauty not your ideas of what you dont and should have.See your beauty, embrace it soon others will too.
Focus on the positive.
Every skin color is beautiful speciaally when taken care of.
Do everything you can to maintain the health of your skin .

Beauty is a reflection of health and happiness.

Not everyone likes the same things, flavors etc. so what if not everyone likes pale skin, thank goodnes for variety

I am going through the same thing, I'm ultra pale and I cant get a tan. Every one in my class makes fun of how pale I am, but sometimes u just have to develope a sense of humor about those kind of things and let the color come from within lol

I know just how you feel, maybe more. When I was little I had such pale skin and platinum blonde hair and thick glasses! I always got made fun. I think I´ve heard the word albino more than anyone. I cried so much from mean little kids. Now I´m 22, I still have very blonde hair and my skin is still fair but anyone that says anything about my looks now is always saying, "You have the perfect hair color; I´ve always tried to get that color; Your skin is perfect; you look like Barbie. After all those years of being picked on it feels good to hear positive things about my looks.
My advice is to not let it get to you and always use an spf. One day all the girls are gonna want to look just like you.:)

Pale is pretty in itself. In many times in history women avoided sunlight when possible to be as pale as possible. The Goth crowd today strives for paleness as well.

Do nothing, be different. It will make you all the prettier than the hundred others that look exactly alike. Instead of thinking of it as a liability accent it. Let it be a trademark for you. When somebody comments take it as a compliment because it is. It means you stand out from the crowd.

I live in south Florida, and tanning here is a way of life. Being black, a beautiful shade of tan...I understand the hype, but I feel bad for those that have to try to achieve it by baking themselves for hours (whether by tanning bed or sun exposure).
Looks painful so I don't recommend it...no matter how much sunscreen you put on.

There were white girls at my high school that used to say they wished they were black because it would take all the trouble out of trying to get a tan, especially w/o tan lines...which was hillarious to us; but there was this one girl that obviously didn't think it inappropriate to inform us all that that darker skinned whites (back in the past) signified poor farm workers...like black people, and the lighter skinned signified wealthier and better upbringing....well, like white people.

My my how time has changed! I suppose that was then....now being tan is definately "the thing."

However hurtful that was to me then, or to you now (in your situation), you should love yourself for who God created you to be. I can see the beauty in fair skinned just as much as I can see the beauty in being darker skinned. We're all beautiful, no matter the skin we're in.

As for an instant answer to your question...I think they call them "fake tans in a bottle....?" Ever tried that? It looks nice on all the commertials. I suppose this will be the quickest safest fix.

But a fix that transends all the trends would be to fall in love with you....

As India Arie says, "I am not my hair, I am not this skin, I am a soul that lives within."

Above all else, love you, and when you can achieve that, trust me, it will become your armor!

Twenty years from now, the in thing may be, I don't know "blue skin...(smile)." The advise I just gave you, you can also give your little ones....that will obviously one day fight the same battles not being, well...."blue."

Good luck beautiful!

I'm pale too...nickname Porcelain. Paleness will keep you from getting melanoma. Also, staying out of the sun or protected from the sun makes you age less noticeably. Our skin won't get that leathered, thick, wrinkled look as we age. Yeah, we have to deal with comments like, "are you sick" "I can see your veins" "Vampira". I love being pale. I like the fact that if you put my pale a** back in the Victorian era, I would be considered a beauty. Paleness is otherworldly in today's society so, be different and proud of it! No one ever tells Nicole Kidman with her ivory skin to go get a tan!

Albinism is the great absence of any melanin pigment in the eyes, epidermis and hair, or rarely, in the eyes on my own. for this reason you would be the comparable epidermis tone via fact the day you have been born (very gentle), have white hair, and probable have reddish looking eyes (your guy or woman eyes might lack adequate pigment to be lined in white or also have a coloured retinas). you will possibly sunburn very actually (nonetheless some human beings declare they accomplish that anyhow). certainly, in case you may tan (your larger arm is darker than your underarm) and your eyes have colored irides (plural of iris) then you definitely ought to no longer have the seen style of albinism. So ask human beings if your hair is white, your eyes pink, and your epidermis lacking a tan, and while they say no to all 3 tell them "nicely i'm no longer albino then, am I?" desire this became into informative (and not too offensive)

I am very pale too. I don't tan, I burn. And I agree with you. Pale is lovely. (I'm not just saying that because I'm fair-skinned, either)
Don't pay any attention to the people who make fun of you. They're just just jealous because pale is so the new tan.
