If you could go back in time...?

Question

Where would you go and what would you do? I would like to go back into the late '40s early '50s or so. Life back then seemed so peaceful and simple.

I have to defend that generation - in comparison to us, despite our "peace" and "prosperity," that was the greatest generation with great people. I'm not looking at the economics and the sciences and whatnot, but I see the character of that generation!

I would go back to the 50's and get a bunch of money and buy a bunch of real estate that was probably really cheap and put up some storage buildings. I would then buy a bunch of cars and drain all the fluids and put them up on blocks to take care of them. I would put all of the property in my name (in the future) and then come back to this time... sell the land and make a bajillion dollars. :-)

Well, I have to argue with you, hiding under desks during atomic bomb drills was no fun. Walking all the time because few people had cars, TV with at most 3 channels (if you were lucky) and in black and white and of at 7 am off at 10 pm. The McCarthy era with everyone spying on each other to see if they were a communist. The KKK in its heyday, no I think not, but then if I had to go back in time I guess it is not all that bad of an era to start with though the 60's and 70's were more fun

peaceful and simple for rich white folks, you mean. Life was hard; medicine was very backwards from what it is now, people were expected to WORK, there was no welfare state, no antibiotics, kids got polio every summer... yeah. Very simple.

If I could go back in tiime, I'd go back to the 1970's and buy up a lot of Microsoft stock.

I would go to Eden to eat fruit of teh tree of life first before any knolwedge. UNless i was stupid is Eve or was created stupid purposely i would do just that.
