check your local building codes, here in n.east pa. deck/porch roofs have to be attached to bulding but also strong enough to stand alone, bullfrog was right attach a 2 x 10 or 12 to your home with 6in. lag bolts or 6 in. galvanized nails, if your home is sided remove siding from the area were the board is to be attached, you will have to use flashing and caulking to prevent leaks in that area, now for roof supports use according to code and size of roof either 4x4's,4x6's or 6x8's these can be mounted to the concrete floor / patio by installing concrete anchor bolts or redheads in the concrete where the posts are to be,drill hole in bottom of posts and slip over the anchor bolt

Are you asking if you should use a dirt floor or are you asking if a wood floor can be built without a slab. Having done a dirt floor for a shed and lived with an old garage with a dirt floor, I can't recommend that. A porch with a floor over bare ground is commonly called a deck with pressure treated posts. A foundation is needed when you have a freezing cycle where you want to go below the freeze line.

I agree with brainiac, but if you want to attach it you will have to install a board along the house to attach the rafters. I just nailed mine into the side of the house. The porch roof went under the house roof (about 6") so I do not have a water problem.

can you get to the roof joists?
why do you want to attach it to the house? I would think it would be better to make it self supporting and have a metal flashing come from under the house roof to on top of the porch for rain.
that way you are not punching holes in a nice house that moisture etc can get into.
