When I was pregnant I had morning sickness around the clock. I got sick brushing my teeth and tried everything even changing toothpaste. Try to brush your teeth looking down and breath slowly ok. CONGRATS! On the baby.

I know exactly what you are going through, I gag when brushing my teeth when i'm not pregnant so it was really bad when i was pregnant. Acouple of times it even made me throw up. What helped me was waiting as long as i could to brush my teeth, I brushed them last right before i went to work. It was bad! My husband could not even use the bathroom before i brushed them, if he did I had to brush them in the kitchen. it gets better the farther you get- I don't gag very often anymore and I could't do that before I was pregnant.
You might try getting an electric toothbrush that seemed a little better for me.
Congratulations on you baby, and good luck! I love being a mom!

Sometimes during pregnancy a woman's gag reflex goes into overdrive. Just take it easy when you brush your back teeth. I have had that on all 4 of my pregnancies (the gagging, not feeling nauseous) and it's just part of the whole wonder of becoming a Mom!

Ah, yes...the old severe gag reflex in action. Totally normal. I tried everything, and then just had to suck it up and brush as quickly as possible & get it over with. My OB did recommend that I brush my teeth with my jaw open as little as possible to get the job done.
Mine didn't end till I was done being pregnant, so good luck.

It could actually be the toothpaste or just the increased sensitivity. Although it's not really an alternative to brushing, you might try using a WaterPik.

Im 10 weeks pregnant and nope i am not experiencing that however I had a friend who did and this is what she did, she bought the baby toothpaste and rinse her mouth while chewing the toothpaste, I thought it was pretty cool, just remember as long as you floss it is all good.

Well, that is a sign of the baby not being happy with toothpaste. So if I were you I would try something less strong. And maybe try the doctor before you do anything.

When I was pregnant, I suddenly got a really BAD gag reflex. I couldn't even swallow my food without wanting to throw up. Try when you get to the back of your teeth go really slow, and try not to get close to the back of your throat.

LoL. It will pass in time, just don't let it tickle your tongue, because its all over then. Your gums are probably bleeding some too? About the 4th month I could brush my teeth and eat breakfast.
