double standards exactly. Because a lot of women are just being damn hypocrites

Women need ladies-only places to get away from guys. A hot woman at the gym is a magnet and they get bothered (or stared at) all the time. A guy who wants to be left alone can just go to the gym and not talk to anybody.

Curves is low impact and geared towards women. They have those rotating stations and it's geared towards a 30 minute workout. There are gyms that are open to everybody, but kinda default to being guys-only when they either have a large percentage of Hans and Frans guys or gay guys. There's usually a Powerhouse gym in every major city known as "that" gym. It's harder to have a gym evolve to being ladies-only because guys show up as soon as word gets out that it's mostly women. That's why Curves and Ladies Workout World sprang up.

Good question ? But some women really come to a gym to get fit, not just to hook up ,a lot of so called gyms are just meat markets .And a woman that is over weight may be more self conscious , but you are right . Why not have men only gyms . Or are they then called bath houses. Sorry ....just kidding

Probably because men's only clubs have always been around before women were even considered people.

What I'd like to know is why they only show 'real' everyday women with fat arms, big arses, jiggly abs....and all the other ads are tight and healthy fit women??? I've got all of the above. I wouldn't sign up to a 'FIT' gym.
