I lived in Spain for a few years as a kid, and my dad took me to see Spain play England in the 1982 World Cup :)

I grew up in Italy and soccer matches were always on TV at my place (my dad likes soccer). I honestly can't remember the first one I watched. But I do remember the first one I watched with real interest and excitement. Brazil vs Italy, 1994 World Cup final, when Italy lost on penalty shootouts. After that one, I have watched many more, but my only live soccer match in a real stadium was in Washington DC maybe three years ago -- AC Milan vs Barcelona. Quite disappointing because our seats were too high and I didn't see much, plus AC Milan lost ;-)

yea 1989 i was 7 and it was Trinidad and Tobago vs Haiti a world cup qualifier and all Trinidad needed to do was draw to make it and they lost 1 - 0 it was indeed on of the saddest days of my life

Yeah! It was Pele's farewell game. NY Cosmos was one of the teams... I think Brazil was the other one (hell! I was about 6). He played for a different team each half. I hope they organize a farewell exhibition game for Zidane.
