I think its because people are trying to understand them. Hopefully they are not trying to judge them and want to understand the differences. Since the Islamic religion has put itself in the world spotlight, many are wanting knowledge of what they believe and think others may be interested in making it their religion.

Sheer Curiosity...Im hindu, and i've asked questions about other religions too
Many people may have formed wrong opinions about other religions and cultures, so maybe these questions are formed to relieve all the tension surrounding Islam and provide people with more understanding
However SOME people use this site and their religion to aggravate people like me...that's why i tend to stay away from the religion part of questions..it's pointless to make a point there

Because most people on this site are in America or Europe and know next to nothing about Islam.
They're either ignorant (not in a bad way) of it and therefore curious OR ignorant of it and therefore bigoted and rant against it.
Oh, and a few aren't ignorant of it, and just want to discuss it...
