The first question is to determine what it means to be the "best" QB. Peyton Manning would top many categories for which statistics are kept - passing yardage, completed passes, etc. He's also smart as hell (at least on the field) and good at changing plays on the line or improvising when a play falls apart. He has another quality that's really important: he's practically indestructible. It doesn't matter whether your QB is great if he doesn't suit up to play because of injury.
But what if the defense of the theoretical team you're playing is chewing holes through your O-line and your QB has two choices: run for his life or spend a lot of time looking up at the sky (or domed ceiling)? What if your receivers are all covered and you need some running yardage from your QB so you can mix up the hand-offs to your RB? My grandmother's more mobile than PM. He's simply not your man in that scenario.
I think to name a QB all-around "best" you'd want one maybe a little more well-rounded than Manning. For a slight drop-off in Manning's stats and intangibles but a huge improvement on his mobility, I'd have to endorse Donovan McNabb or Carson Palmer.
Roethlisberger - **my** team's QB, BTW - is an excellent QB, but he doesn't have the stats that Manning does because of Pittsburgh's (generally) run-first offense. He, like Tom Brady, is an example of a QB well-suited to his team's needs. And while that's what wins Super Bowls, it doesn't make their individual achievements as QBs the best.

No. Peyton Manning is considered by most to be the most talented QB in the league, yet the Colts have barely sniffed at a Super Bowl despite some mind boggling numbers by Manning. This is always up for debate, but since they won the Super Bowl last season, I will pick the Pittsburgh Steelers as the best team. Ben Rothlisberger is a very talented quarterback, probably top 5 in the league. At this stage in their careers though, I would probably select both Manning and Tom Brady before Rothlisberger as being better.

Not neccesarily. For instance, the best team right now has to be the steelers, but is ben roethlisberger the best qb in the league. Of course not. The best qb in the NFL right now is Tom Brady b/c he has 3 rings and is beginning to culminate some great statistics too. That's how the best qb in the league is determined. Who has the best combination of rings and stats.

No,because although a qb has more control in a team's performance than any other individual his control does not outweigh the rest of the team. The former superbowl champion Ravens were considered to be the best team before but u didnt see Trent Dilfer in no probowl. Stats can be misleading so I would say the best quaterback is a person who's team is able to become most dependent on while being able to deliver victories. The best qb has to be able to perform at a high level at all times but most importantly in da clucth which is why Brady is da best not Manning.

I dont believe this is true. It all depends how a QB matches up with the system they are in. Some of the best QBs have been on bad teams but were able to excell because the system matched their talents. Dan Marino, Warren Moon are two examples.

Although the QB for the best team is usually high in rankings he is not nesecarilly the best in the league... The QB rating is the way to tell. but before they had a QB rating it was whoever had the best Statistics of the year..

no, not necessarily, Ben Rothlesberger was the QB of the Super Bowl champions but his stats are mediocre at best. He does win football games though. A few years ago, the Baltimore Ravens won the Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer. All Dilfer basically did was hand the ball to Jamal Lewis and ride the coattails of the great defense they had that year.

no. the teams success is not due to a great quarterback. remember the eagles-cowboys game last year, when Roy Williams scored the winning touchdown? well it just goes to show that defense has a huge impact on how great the team is. the quarterback is just an essential. and at the moment, i would say the best QB is Michale Vick, because he can run, juke, pass, take a hit, and make a block.

Depends on if his name is Tom Brady or not. If his name is Tom Brady, then he is the best QB. If his name isn't Tom Brady, then he is not Tom Brady but he might be Jose Canseco who isn't a QB and doesn't play football in the NFL or anywhere else even for fun. Yeah.

For pass completion, and yards and satistics like that.Without the receiver the QB aint nothing,my opinion is that the QB gets way to much attention the other players deserve it.Thats only my opinion though.
