It seems that most get their cars serviced during the summer months, is this true? I thought that a car required maintenance any time of the year, yet people dont seem to do it much during the winter months,Whats the difference? I'm sure it gets a little financially rough on the mechanics and technicians during the winter months. Any thoughts?

The time of year is not a factor for most maintenance items. Most are based on distance travelled or time since last done. For example, some general guidelines are:

Oil change: every 3k - 5k miles or 3 months
Radiator flush: 24 months
Trans service: 50k miles
Tune up: 100k miles (new vehicles) 15k miles (older models)

Or whatever the manufacturer recommends.

Are you people joking? do you know how many things can go wrong besides basic fluids and filters? The entire winter you need to have your car in the best shape of the year, so you need to do extra things. since you should do them about once a year, do them at the time that you need them the most.

Definately do a thourough tune up in the fall. Do oil regularly, but do major stuff every fall, so that you dont get stuck in the cold. You should replace the battery, make sure the alternator is in good condition, and make sure all of the belts are good. make sure the starter works well, and make sure that the spark plugs are changed.
Have the mechanic inspect anyhting that he thinks could cause the car to fail in the future.

Vehicles require regular year round maintenance. However I recommend a check-up in the spring for summer and a check -up in the fall for winter. This way your vehicle will be ready for cold weather or hot weather conditions. We will also recommend what will be needed now or in the near future. Find an honest independent repair shop and get an estimate. Franchise companies are generally on commission and are trained to up-sell most jobs to get the most money for a repair. Ask a friend or relative for a recommendation of an honest repair shop.

That's why you see so many cars broken down they didn't do the maintenance year-round like needed but mostly during the summer is when people get things checked out because the A/C isn't working as well as they want or the car is drinking gas.. everyone knows that gas prices soar during the summer
