They want more money. Right now AT&T is going through some financial problems. That lower rate probably wouldn't last very long though. They may be conning you into paying more then they tell you. Right now AT&T isn't the most trustworthy company.

That is the phone number from AT&T to harass it's customers to upgrade their service and join additional services.
I have been with AT&T for 5 years now beginning when I moved to Texas. Whereas the service has been adequate (not superior by any means) the harassment of phone calls is becoming unbearable.
I have spoken with agent after agent about this. About NOT being contacted. Each time I have been assured the phone calls will stop. The do not. I have spoken with specialists at AT&T, you know the one. Those agents you only get to speak with AFTER you spend 10 minutes speaking with a computer and another 30 minutes of mindless babble and scripted conversations with the first actual person you get to talk with.
Each year, at a minimum of twice a year, I have spoken to AT&T in such a manner regarding their relentless phone calls. I have spoken with the "specialists / managers" no less than 6 different times - each time being promised that my phone number has been removed. Each time being promised AT&T will not contact me via phone for any reason. Each time, apparently, being lied to.
Hey AT&T. STOP CALLING ME! STOP CALLING ME! STOP CALLING ME! STOP CALLING ME! STOP CALLING ME! STOP CALLING ME! STOP CALLING ME! I can not be any more direct than this. So you have left me no choice.
After spending the majority of my cell minutes speaking with your service representatives the last time I requested you decease these phone advertisements I traded promises with you. You promised to stop calling me. I promised I wouldn't go public. You broke your promise, so I am not breaking mine.
You are liars and once my ridiculous contract is over I am leaving AT&T. I am never going back!. Your company is deceitful, dishonest, and greedy. I understand why. I have no recourse as a small everyman. My only recourse is to do what I am doing - leave when my contract is up (I am counting the days) and voice my frustration with your company publicly via newspapers, the internet, and every single person I come in contact with.

They keep calling me last night I picked up I have already asked them to please not call me since they call sometimes @ 8:30 at night. The lady kept talking I could hardly understand her and I very nicely asked her not to call again and that I have already asked before and she kept talking and started raising her voice. Bad way to do Customer Service.
