Yes, the huricane season runs through the end of October in the Caribbean. However, not to worry, if there is a hurricane in the area the cruise ship will change its itinerary and ports to stay clear of it.

Take it from someone who's lived in an area that watches Hurricane season all her life (New Orleans, LA); 6 months, literally half the year, is devoted to Hurricane Season. Hurricane season lasts from June 1 until November 30 so yes, you would be cruising to Cancun in hurricane season if you go in September. But just b/c H.S. stops 11/30 doesn't mean Hurricanes do... Mother Nature doesn't work in a specific time frame! Be safe if they predict a hurricane around the Gulf and watch weather reports!!

I went on a cruise in may to avoid the hurricane season which is June, July, and August. The travel agent told us the those are the months of the hurricane season but she also told us that they can start in may and last up in September but not usually.

Chelz was right on with her answer on the hurricane season running from June to November. Last year was the worst and actually ran into December. This year is supposed to be above average but so far we have not seen much activity -- only one tropical storm so far.
I would suggest as an option an all-inclusive resort like Sandals, Superclubs, both of whom I believe offer you a Hurricane guarantee.

I believe it is. I think Aug-Nov is Hurricane Season.
Last year Cancun got hit hard. Check with a travel agent, they are suppose to be on top of this information.
I went to Jamaica in October and my room was blown out..I got upgraded..but still.

Yes. Hurricane season is from June until November. So you might as well chance it if you want to go when it's still summer! Good luck to you & have fun!

oh yeah you should not go, you shoulda go in may or early july.
