This took me hours to find the right search terms. It was a challenge but I feel good to have succeeded. Yours was a good question indeed.

Don't use that tape. Go get yourself a plain yard stick measure. Tack it onto the doorway 1/3 or 1/2 way up. Note how far up it is placed and write that at the bottom of the stick. Measure your children or yourself. When you move to a new house just untack the measure and replace it in another home.
