It isn't really pure white. It is more of a dirty dark gray. But at night, when it is the brightest thing in the sky, it looks more white than any other color.

Because of the sun's light hitting the moon itself, and the reflection of the sun's light hitting the earth. Also, the moon isn't really white in color, it is spattered with craters and basins all over, creating things like "the man on the moon". If you're really interested about the moon just look it up in an encyclopedia or something.

Well, the rocks on the moon's exterior are typically light or dark gray. Also what makes it appear white is the sun shining right on it. If you want an example, take a ball (light in color, but not white) and shine a bright light on it. It will appear white because of all the light hitting it.

It appears white in color. Just like distant mountains may appear to be blue or gray.
The moon is reflecting light from the sun. The light travels through space and through our atmosphere. Some of the light being reflect is absorbed while some of it goes into our eyes. The blend of colors that is being received by our eyes appears white.

The reason is no different than why the sky is blue, or the sun is white but change to yellowish to orange when is setting.
In addition, moon will also exhibit different color during the day and night as well.

The Moon reflects (although not well) the sun's light, which is white. Since the lunar soil is basically colorless (gray to black), it picks up no particular coloration when being reflected. Hence, we see it as white.
