I am doing a quilt and am cutting out a picture to put on each square. What is the easiest way to applique this to the quilt square? I am using brocade materials that were given to me left over from a decorator.

I'm assuming the picture that you are cutting out is a fabric. For this technique, you'll need to get some interfacing. When you cut out the pictures, make sure you have a 1/4" to a 5/8" seam allowance. Cut out a piece of interfacing that is slightly larger than your cut piece of fabric. Place the interfacing on top of the FRONT side of the fabric. Sew around the outside of the picture (the end result will be the area of fabric inside the sewn line, so how you do this is up to you) Since interfacing is usually very thin, it is see-through so you'll still be able to see what you are doing. Trim the excess seam to about 1/4" but no less than an 1/8th". With scissors, carefully cut a hole in the INTERFACING so that you can turn it inside out. Once you turn the fabric, use a bodkin(anything thin and NOT sharp) to lightly straighten the sewn edges around the inside of the piece. Iron it flat, then sew to your block. You can print the photos on iron-on paper and iron them to the quilt fabric. Is that what you mean?
