I hadn't heard about this till your question, so I checked the BBC, and found this article:

It names Polish barber Aaron Kosminski as the 1880's serial killer.
I guess it doesn't bother me, as all that happened so long ago. I hope it doesn't affect the modern day tourist industry that thrives on those old stories! We did the Jack the Ripper tour in London and it was so interesting! Maybe the identification of the identity will add more detail to the stories they tell.....

Scotland Yard isn't 100% sure, currently they think it's Aaron Kosminski, you can read more at:

What? Such a stupid question! Why worry about Jack since he has long been dead? It's the present day living ones people should be concerned about. Worry? You bet! But not of this far past event.

I presume it would depend if you're a free lance hooker or not. Wouldn't it? How they're making a living these days, outside of politics, I have no idea.
