I think a good reality TV show would be filming ten hungry, homeless, malnourished kids in Africa, and have America bet on which one will starve to death first, or bet on whether it will be unnessesary hunger or a curable disease that will kill them.

Yeah, that would be REALITY... Perhaps we should start living in it!

Maybe we should see more of it.

I met the guy who edits the 1000's of hours of footage for Big Brother, Survivor, etc... most of it is unusable because there is always a director/producer telling the characters what to do or say. What you see on TV... there is always someone just off camera or around the corner. The cast from Survivor is the same way, and they stay in a hotel when not on camera. There is nothing real about reality TV.

How about taking a camera crew to NYC or any other large or bigger city in America and having Americans watch their own "children of the future" and seeing what they go through. Homeless, hungry, being raised by addicts, raising themselves, dealing with gangs, drugs, alcohol and bullies. Watching their momma sell out because the state is busy helping other people that come here and will not help her.
And making bets on which of them raises above the odds and do not become another statistic and which one is the next teen mother and drug seller.
Non-edited. Non-rehearsed.
Maybe seeing it in their own country would make more of an impact than in Africa.
And thats reality for you

Reality TV is an almost complete misnomer. There is nothing real on TV... if it were real, it would be boring as **** (rhymes with duck)

I'm an editor and my special talent (or curse) is to be able to find a story in hours and hours of mind-numbing drivel in tape that people give me.

Trust me, when taking events that occur over hours, days or even weeks and boiling it down into a 54 minute program, the first thing that goes is the truth.

Reality TV should be retitled by its industry moniker - unscripted programming.

Oh that's right... we were taling about malnourished kids in Africa.... sorry I went off on a tangent there.

that would be sad........Bono would freak out over it. He'd sue anything and everything. The directors, producers, editors,...the viewers, the network. hehe

but yes....we do need to do something about this stupid reality tv.

I don't like that idea to be completely honest and I don't ever see anything like that being a reality show. It seems wrong to me.
