This question is phrased in such way that makes me believe that you think that the people in the rest of Africa ARE starving. That could not be farther from truth.
Hunger and poverty are directly related to the ability of a nation to produce its own food, participate in free trade and control reproduction. South Africa is admittedly the most able nation in Africa, besides Egypt.

They have a working government. the governments of the other african nations are driven by the cultures created by the wars and by the violent half of black culture. There are few leaders who can get into power without being about those things. Can you amagine somebody running for government in africa using normal black culture as his running style? he would be all laid back and be about peace and family. there is no way people would elect him. It almost like how people here vote based on hate. They hate george bush because he isnt exiting. hes like "uh, lets try not to let people hurt us" but what people want to hear is "that person is responsible for this! lets lynch him!". Politics have never been about corruption of the government, they have been about the corruption and the greed of the people spilling over into government.

I think because South Africa has an organized form of government. and they have a sufficient supply of water. Landlock countries in Africa have difficulties in getting water.

they are they just don't have news crews there making it public knowledge. there is a lot of money in S. Africa so it has a little more cash than the rest of Africa which also explains why people aren't as worried about it

It is a rich country and - to the astonishment of many whites - after apartheid was abolished it has been run quite efficiently by the blacks.

I believe it has something to do with freedom and free enterprise and lack of government corruption. Food elsewhere is used as a weapon.
