You morons need not get so defensive. That is a very good question. Besides keeping the human population alive, which is growing rapidly as it is, some people just see it as pointless to have kids. I guarantee you that at least one person out their is stressed out by their kids. I want kids, but hey maybe you don't. That's cool too.

People always seem to have a strange answers for the money questions. The cost of raising a child is very simple, 15% - 20% of your income with be spent on child rearing, no matter how much you make or how many children you have. This does not include the cost of University, because they are adults by that time and should be financially responsible for themselves! Children are more than worth this small cost. So we don't eat out as often, or go on fancy trips and we drive a minivan instead of a sports car. None of this matters, I would sacrifice even more to have such wonderful people in my life.

they cost a LOT more than that by the time they are 18. more like 100,000$ the first year D: The point of having kids is the experience and the joy of parenthood, which I think completes a lot of people and of course to further your genes along the evolutionary time scale.

Having kids doesn't guarantee you anything. All of you who have a loving 10yr old have no idea how he or she is going be in 8 years. This kid may turn 18 and decide to never you see you again.
...something to think about.

The point of having children is because that is why we are here on earth. To procreate!! Also, you bring children into the world, you love them, they love you back, and you enjoy them. How sad and empty a person must be if they don't have a family. Maybe when you are young you don't think about it, but one day you will be old and lonely, and then you will wish that you had a family. You raise your family with love and one day they will take care of YOU when you are old.

It's called UNCONDITIONAL LOVE...and actually they can cost more than that, but why would anyone even choose to place a price tag on their child??? Some people are meant to have children, and others are not. If you are looking at having a child as a financial burden, then maybe you do not need to have any.

sure they may cost a lot. But nothing beats the joy out of having them and watching them grow. That alone is more valuable then money itself

kids are invaluable.... they aren't measured by how much money u spnd ofn them but of how much care and love they will give u in the future if u raised them right. They r a product of ur ownself, don't u spend money on urself?
