First, are we talking about Jerry?

Second, even fundamentalist Christianity allows for divorce in cases of adultery. Cheating is BAD news. So, as a general rule, it is good to leave a cheater now - especially since you are not married. Generally, hear what everyone is saying: move on.

But ... if you want to try ... then it all depends on his type of apology. A simple "I'm sorry" won't do. He must do lots ... LOTS more. Explain why he did it. Explain what is different that it won't happen again. Explain why it is wrong. Display that he understands how it hurt YOU (it wasn't just wrong, but it damaged your heart, and ability to trust). Display how he feels that he hurt you. Do some form of recompense (make it up to you).

Most guys won't go through this ... but these are the steps of a person who sincerely knows he did something wrong and knows he did something to hurt you and grieves that he hurt you.

If he doesn't show these traits, kick him to the curb and move on.
