parents need to keep a better eye on their children no doubt about that. plus you should never put a computer in your child's room, it should be out in the living room. and parents should limit their kids Internet time. it all starts with the parents.

Well, the person actually committing the crime is the person responsible (the molester, pervert, whomever is taking the kids). Parents are also play a huge role; obviously they need to be watching their kids more. It is not up to myspace, the schools, churches or any other institution to watch someone’s kids for them. That being said, I understand that parents cannot watch their kids every minute of the day, but if you instill good values with your kids early, and have developed a good relationship with them from the get go, then there should not be as many of these cases popping up. My boyfriends brother is a minister (and so is my boyfriend) and recently at a revival he said something that I think can apply here without getting religious...If you do not show your kids love and support, they WILL find it somewhere else. That is why we have so many young girls getting pregnant and young boys becoming fathers and joining gangs. People want love and family, if they do not get that from their real families, it has to be created some other way, and often those ways are not healthy.
I think today our society has a habit of blaming the victims. Who hasn't said or heard someone say something like this "well she wouldn’t have been raped if she didn't dress like a ho". What someone wears should never dictate whether a violent crime is committed against him or her. My point is, Myspace is not to blame. It is true that it creates an environment for these pervs, but it also creates a place for actual adults to find old friends and make new ones. I am sure there are kids on myspace making good friends as well, not everyone of them can be meeting up with pervs. I think there should be ways to make it less accessible to kids, no doubt. But think about this, convenience stores are breeding grounds for robberies, but I have never heard anyone say that the store is to blame.

Everybody is. The parents for allowing their children to put all that personal information up there. The government for not having laws to regulate this type of website so there wouldn't be as many perverts trying to get into it and see underage kids. The kids for not being smart enough to set their profile to private, and for putting that information up. Myspace is to blame, but it's hard to make sure it's just kids signing up for accounts and stuff because it's so easy to lie about your age, so the only way it would end was if Myspace required a credit card or other proof of legal adulthood, and even then kids and teens would be finding their parents credit cards and using them to get the account. Look, I don't have anything against parents, the government, kids, or Myspace, but everybody who allows it to happen and just sits around and says "somebody should be doing something about that kind of stuff" is just as responsible for not doing anything as the perverts who search the profiles are responsible for doing what they do. The only sure-fire way to end it all is to end Myspace.

The parents need to monitor their kids on the internet. However, these "kids" who are being kidnapped or molested tend to be teenagers. They should know better at that age. Either way MySpace is not responsible for the illegal actions of its members. Time for people to take responsibility for themselves and quit expecting other to take care of them.

Parents. We should always keep a close eye on our children. They might have innocent intentions when talking with someone, but who knows what the other person is wanting to do.
