In fact, for those of you that read the whole question, wouldn't movies be better if the actor/actress who stars in them were unknowns? Almost every really successful TV citcom starts with unknowns (i.e. Friends, Will and Grace, Gilmore Girls, Smallville, etc...)
I just thought a fresh face on Superman was, well, refreshing.

I can see your point. You mentioned that almost every successful TV sitcom starts with unknown. Same thing goes with Johnny Depp. He was once "unknown", he started as that. But he worked his way to stardom. He is famous and "known" today because he worked hard for it. He deserves the credit that he's receiving and we can't deny the fact that he is an exceptional actor.

Johnny Depp is a great actor ... You have to look at this way. You may recognize him from his other movies, but he has the ability to break free from those parts. Look at the way his movements, actions and speech differed between his roles as Willy Wonka and Capt. Jack Sparrow. He's a good actor.
Now for another example ... Look at Matthew Perry. No matter what role he plays, he always has the same mannerisms as Chandler Bing. Fools Rush in and Whole Nine/Ten Yards, he's Chandler with a different name. Same speech, same mannerisms, and even down to some of his idiosyncracies.

Johnnt Depp is great!! His Pirates of the Caribbean movies are awesome too...not to mention Edward Scissorhands. If all movies had all "unknowns" then we probably wouldn't rush out to see them.These well known actors have paid their dues and because of their success,we flock to see them.
The new Superman was disappointing.

I think fresh faces are good but the reason you see actors on different movies is because they are that good so get called for but besides that they also have to audition so in regards to you question I am Johnny Depps fan he's awsome and he has talent so he gets good leading parts,,,,,shoot if he can then he deserves the parts so stop hating on him

I think he just appears in movies I don't want to see. A lot of actors are like that.
