Felonies are visable on background checks for how long? Are there differant levels of checks that can be made.What is the typical background check, and what does it show?

so far as I know felonies are visible all the way back until age 18 regardless of how old you currently are. A typical background check will look at your credit history, criminal history, and may include interviews of past employers. For government positions the process is typically more rigerous and they'll interview family members and friends.

I use to do background checks for the company i use to work for and the checks show everything even divorces and if you have a judgment against you. They go as far back as you have a record. Excluding juvenile records of course. But usually they dont consider anything more than seven yrs old.

A lot of backround checks don't specify exactly how far back they go. Usually what they do is check the last two counties or so that you lived in. Most applications ask specifically if you have ever been convicted or if your currenlty out on bail.
