If you graduated from high school in another country be sure you have your records translated and legalized by a notary. With those records (such as: transcript or high school diploma) you can go to a college and register. I work for Community College of Southern Nevada (located in Las Vegas) and we do not require a high school diploma, thus you can register without providing information about your high school. I am sure that if you look for a nursing degree you can get one at a Community College (we have 2 degrees here). I would advise you to try a community college because is much cheaper and if you do not have 1 year of living in the state where the college is located you will be charged non-resident fee (which doubles your tuition cost).
In terms of the program this is how it works: you will have to go through some general courses first such as: communications (speech class), English, psychology, math, science (2 semesters of anatomy and physiology and microbiology- 3 classes total), sociology, and history or constitution....then once you are done with these there is a test that you have to take and based on the grades you get in these classes and on the test you can apply to get into the nursing program. If you have a good score and you are accepted into the program it should take you about a year to finish.
I hope I did not confuse you with all those terms. To summarize everything...it should take you 2 years to get a RN degree (registered nurse)...but is worth it because RNs are very in demand right now. Good luck!
Where are you from?

You first need to get a high school diploma. It is also best to have sciences in your curriculum as far as high school is concerned. You don't mention though if you are interested in being a CNA, RN, or LPN. The schooling is different for each, and all you need a high school diploma. CNA training is usually from a couple weeks to a couple months depending on where you are. LPN can be anywhere from a year to a year and a half. RN you have a few options either a diploma or a degree, whether it be through a hospital school of nursing or university. You first need to get a high school diploma- this is required for any type of nurse.

To get into nursing school, you have to have a high school diploma or GED. Nursing school is tough, and not everyone makes it in. You could start by taking your GED, and then take a CNA (certified Nursing Assistant) class. They require you to have your CNA certificate to get into most nursing programs. Your best bet is to find either a community college, or a vocational school in your area and talk to them about what you need to do.
