No i dont think that Zidane's headbutt was justified. He is supposed to be a professional athlete and supposed to keep his cool. He shouldnt lose it over some mom/sister comments. That was what the italian guy was trying to do, make Zidane lose his cool and get him ejected.

I agree with you to a certain extent. See Zizu has always had a temper but has known how to control it when it comes to be playing on the field. For all the reports it seems that the Italian player was constantly repeating the same things. i am sorry but Zidane is still human and you can only take so much until you explode.

As a respected figure in international football, Zidane should never attack his opponents.
I guess Materazzi has said terrible things that could change a calm player into a beast. I strongly disagree such provocation although I am a fan of Italy, but a sportsman should act as a gentleman. I am very sorry for your terrible end, Mr. Zidane ....

I think Zidane should have punched Mattarazi's face instead of head-butting him. How would you feel if someone called your mama a whore? And not just once either. Three times.
I was a former Italian fan but never again would I support that team. They are bunch of cheaters and liars.

Yes it was! Zizou should have cracked him the face.He adressed the issue like a man and did not retaliate later in the game by stompin on someones ankles or dive like the Italians do.
Zizou scored a goal and nearly scored again with his header in extra time. DavidTreziguet hit the cross bar to lose it for France in penalty kicks not Zidane.
The Italian player is a racist and I personally do not recognize their World Cup.They are cheaters.

Absolutely a no! Hes supposed to be a professional. He should be able to lead as one.He didnt think before doing it. Thats the problem with people too emotionally driven. I should know.Im a musician and sometimes I think I should leave behind my emotions.I might get more things done.It not worth it loosing ones temper. It always has a tendency to backfire!!.

No. It was very unprofessional of him to do that b/c of some insults. He should have let it go and confront him later, after the game, if he really did make "serious" references to his family members.
