D&D at 30? Let me put it to you this way. I belong to a gaming community for people between the ages of 15-40. Most play Magic the Gathering, D&D, and all of them do SCA or boffering or LARPING, or a combination of the three. That's right, we swordfight with foam/wood swords. It's a ton of fun, and face it, the guys there are pretty cute sometimes. Enjoy it, bask in it, and try to get him into LARPing or boffering. Hell, I think you'll like it too!

My husband and I play another game similar to D&D with our friends and have done so for about 10 - 13 years. Roleplaying gives a person a chance to interact in a story as opposed to just sitting and reading what somebody else has written. I find it a lot more fun to interact with people than just sitting on a couch snacking all night. Our group's ages go from 17 yrs old to 48 yrs and consists of both guys and girls.

You & Colorshift need to listen to these other people. If gaming is the worst vice he has, your biggest complaint, you are getting off easy! Do you know how many women are mixed up with alcoholics or gamblers or abusive men or who cheat on them, and would give ANYTHING to hook up with a so-called dork?
Start looking at his hobby as a virtue instead of a flaw, it could be so much worse.
And as others pointed out, you could join him and play with him and have some fun yourself, or use his gaming night for some extra "me time" for your own interests.

Actually, there's lots of us! I'm 54, and a husband, so I qualify, but if you'ld look at sites like theminiaturespage.com, which attacts some 10,000 visitors per day, you'll get an idea of how many!

Let 'em have his fun - i DON'T play - but he could be out drinking at a bar or doing GOD know what else. WE all have our "VICES" I'm in my 30's AND LOVE PSP2 Football games. I think I'll be playing with it with my GRAND kids in my 60's. As long as he's a RESPONSIBLE partner and the D&D isn't interfering with your livelyhood - use his D&D time , as time for YOUR hobby.

I don't get it either hon...my ex is 47, and still plays.
If it wasn't that, it was video games....yawn, how boring. Seems like a colossal waste of time.
