Two million people have been displaced and more than 180,000 killed in what has been described by some aid agencies as the world's worst humanitarian crisis. The Sudanese government has suspended the work of all UN missions in Darfur except the World Food Programme and Unicef.

What can we do? What should we do? I would appreciate well thought out responses to this serious question. Thank you!

international attention is driven by the new organizations. The news organizations are driven by profits. Appearantly they feel like they can make more profit by not covering the Danfur crisis. So, since basically no government is being pressured by its media to act, a blind eye has been turned. Its a tragedy thats for sure.

Although it was crudely and offensively stated, I think that Al Cyro... hit it on the head. If something similar were happening to 'white' people, it would have been handled a long time ago. Sad fact about the world we live in. This is a very serious question: man's inhumanity to man. What can we do? As individuals, not much. Send whatever cash you can to aid agencies. Maybe contact the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and beg them for help. What should we do? We should all rise up together as human beings and put an end to poverty, cruelty, greed, and injustice -- but , sorry, that's not going to happen.

Thanks for the question.

Again Celticwoman77, whenever I try to answer your question I find myself unable to think about why the world is dumb about what happens in Darfur. Is it because the Sudanese government is a theocratic one and the world has got fed with what theocratic do all over the world especially the Sudanese gov. which always appears defiant to any solution? And when it pretended to have settled the matter with John Garange, it killed him in a plane-planned accident, and the world got dumb. Or is it because some neighboring countries help the Sudanese gov. to commit its crimes in Darfur and these countries may have good relations with Europe and America? ........ Still I am unable to work it out .......
Sorry for being naiive...........

I think that due to the recent outbreak of war involving the united states the government and it's people are more concerned with there own problems. I think that if the media focused more on places like Dufar more would be done.

hey now doll. I won't get into to plenty yet does the U.S. think of they could desire to be "in touch" in yet yet another u . s . to impose our theory of democracy & freedom with a view to help our lust & greed for oil? shouldn't we be greater in touch and in touch to end the inhumanity & genocide of non-arab human beings there? We wave our flag of "freedom" yet we proceed to enable this attrocious & disgusting disaster bypass on as a results of fact our "international kin" tells us to no longer. Hmmm...double-extensive-unfold democracy, perhaps?
