Just FYI... I get my news from CNN, Foxnews, BBC, and Al Jazeera online. I've never been to the middle east, nor do I have an understanding of Islamic culture outside of people I've met and my own research online.

Rarely do I hear of Islamic nations speaking out against terrorism. Nor do I hear of them taking much of a pro active approach in rooting out extremism. Any efforts I see appear to be very weak. Why? Is there some kind of Islamic cultural thing going on here where they don't want to speak out against another Muslim? The only Muslims I hear speaking out against terrorism are the local mosque in my city and U.S. Muslim clerics & professors. But very few from the Islamic nations. If Islam is a peaceful religion and jihad really doesn't mean what it appears to, then why won't these countries/clerics get more proactive in creating an Islamic Culture of anti-extremism? Thanks in advance for your answers.

That's all they know. In the Islamic culture, your religious beliefs are EVERYTHING. They don't see acts of terrorism the way we do. They see them as individuals fighting in the name of their religion, which is normal there. They're afraid to speak out against it also. If you speak out against a terrorist in Islam, you and your family will most likely be dead the next morning. The Muslims and Islamic individuals in the US have adapted to a democratic way of life. They are free to express their feelings here, because it's OK. I don't know if any of this helps, but it just seems to be the way things are.

I'll be interested to hear some answer too! I know I'm not deaf, but I'm not hearing anything. The closest I've seen to outrage was in Jordan after their attack. Every thing else has just been silence. Yes, very interesting indeed.

It's part of their religion to believe it is right to kill the "infidel" who is against holy Islam. They think its a great thing and an honor to die that way!

I have heard a few voices promoting reason and sanity, but they tend to get drowned out by the madmen.
