You can still be racist and have a black "kinda" friend. Racism isn't just about hating people of different ethnic backgrounds. Racism can exist if you automatically see them just as "black," or "muslim," or "hispanic." I guess it's entirely up to you whether or not you are racist. I work with a guy who has a tatoo on his arm that says, "White is right." To make things more interesting, his assistant is black and they get along really well. So it kind of goes the other way too. You can seem racist, but be totally accepting.
If you avoid other ethnicities more often and favor your own race, then yes, you are racist. But if you accept everyone as a human, then no. I don't know you, so I can't say either way. You know who you are, so you don't need someone else telling you.

Wow, congratulations. You have a "kind of a friend" who's black. Big woop. Maybe your attitude makes you look racist. Have you ever made a racist joke or saw a mexican and was like "stupid *******" or anything like that? You might not be racist or a bigit (whatever that might be) but you are probably giving off the precense of being one. I've read some of your questions, and yo come off very predjudice and racist. Maybe if you didnt ask race hating jokes or rude race jokes, then people wouldnt call you a racist!!!

Racism and bigotry is a persisting problem, but it can be overcome. Start by asking why someone would call you a racist and go from there. If their answer is because you make racist comments, jokes etc., then ask yourself why you say these kinds of things. It might not mean you're a racist, but you could certainly learn to be more tolerant and accepting of people who are different than you are (and race is a pretty broad term by the way, not just reserved for people of colour...believe it or not, white people can be just as easily discriminated against).

Bottom line, people should be judged based on who they are as a human, not what they look like.

Wait, which part makes you not a racist? That you know a black guy or that he's "kinda" your friend? I know tons of people I dislike, and I'm even "kinda" friends with a lot of people who have belief or value systems I don't respect. What does that prove? Nothing. Association, and certainly loose and remote association, is not grounds for a conclusion of the type you are hoping people will make.

You should ask the people who say you're a bigot and racist WHY they say that instead of asking strangers who have had no dealings with you what they think.

If a lot of people say it then there much be a good reason. Knowing a black guy does not automatically make you a non-racist

Being a bigot means that you think you are better than ANYONE just because of something they can't change. Nationality, race, religious beliefs. Being a bigot means you have no regard for those people's feeling whatsoever. You're not free of bigotry just because you "know a black guy". You're free of bigorty when you're a truly nice, caring and accepting person.

Should you be in the political section? Your question looks like something from a kids chat room. Read the words you just typed and you tell us why people would say you were a bigot and a racist. Spell check is very easy to use, try it please.

This is simple. Ask yourself ... "Do I judge others by the color of their skin, religion, or culture before I get to know the individual person". If yes, then you are a bigot. If no, then tell the person who said it that they need to check the dictionary before throwing out accusations!

You may be racist if you look at a black man differently. When you look at a person you should see them, not the color of their skin.
