Of course not...
It's called "public accommodation" and the federal govn't advocates making no accommodation based on race, sex, age, yada, yada, yada.
Some would say that the Fed. can force the autonomy of the states to follow suit. Some would advocate "states rights" but that's another issue.
But of course the Fed. govn't does discriminate, - based on quotas (women, blacks) and other preferential treatment... and they say it's OK... since.. "the ends justifies the means".
But for each of us as individuals, practicing our "pursuit of happiness", - there's no such thing as "public accommodation" and I can hate or love all kinds of folks.

BTW.. I can't believe all the horse-hockey I've been reading on this page !! Your PC is causing brain damage !!! What happened to critical thinking !!

People tend to want to be with people like themselves. Look at the many, many, many, examples of small pockets of people that all live together in one small area - Little Italy, Chinatown, etc. in NYC - and any other big city. Because these people choose to live amongst others like them, is that discrimination? By definition, yes - it is. Again, it's natural for people to want to exist in their "comfort zone", and these actions are discriminatory towards others. But is this type of discriminiation bad? If you are of Chinese descent, and want to live with other Chinese descendants, if you make that decision you are discriminating against everyone else. The type of discrimination that is bad is when those views or opinions are used to hurt others. It's a very fine, and very blurry line, but some discrimination is human nature, and not inheriently bad. So you can't blanket all discrimination as being bad - even though most of it is. And the causes are many.

I don't think it's as much ignorance as much as it is greed.
But as to your original question: Is all discrimination bad?
At the risk of being misinterpreted. No or at least not all things that may be perceived as discrimination. But overall yes it is.
But here is what I'm talking about.
Is it wrong to prevent women from being in battle situations?
They can shoot just as well as any man.
They can perform just as well in almost every battle situation with the possible exception of hand to hand combat.
I don't know I leave the final answer up to you.
Is it wrong to prevent a blind person from working with dangerous machinery even with the appropriate safe guards?
I believe you can always find fringe issues that will ride the borderline but over all discrimination is a horrible horrible thing.

We all discriminate, all the time. The trick is not to let discrimination rule you. But I find that in America everyone likes to talk about groups discriminating, etc. The trick is to do what you can to act in a non-discriminatory way.

Discrimination is usually always bad, unless it involves airport security. If you have Gramma Betty Crocker, Aunt Jemima and Omar Hussein Niejannannana bin Zarquawi both trying to get on plane, yet you can only search one, you search Omar. Sad but true.

Yes it is bad and wrong, doesn't matter what kind. Why people do it, I have no idea. It will never prove a point and it will always end ugly.
