Why is it that models and actress are getting thinner and thinner?
Does anyone else see that this is becoming a problem with our young daughter?
And what can we do to have more real women in Advertisements and on TV shows?

the idea is that the girls need to look weak (and starved, but the mass media generally ignores that) in order for the big strong men to come and save them from their fate. It goes back to when we used to play with barbie dolls. It's a lot easier for the man to carry the unconscious 80. lb girl out of the burning castle than it is to carry a 150 lb. girl.

I am a young daughter myself, so I can not say whether or not this is a problem. Girls my age just want to look pretty (and rich) and today's society defines that as being skinny, so we all want to be skinny.

The only time i see "real women" is on weight-loss program commercials. And then they compare them to the skinny models, and you go, "wow, she's fat." So it's all for making money, really.

The philosophy of thin models is to get you off looking to the bodies, but just the dresses

Make your daughter watch Oprah, the only thin person on that show is her psychiatrist.
