The answer is Yes if you are talking about 802.11b/g. These are standards setup by the standards group. If you are talking about the extended, super, or any other term the answer is NO. As these are speculative systems while the standards group is working on standards for 802.11n. Also there is no guarantee that thes systems will be compatible with "N" whicn is due later this year.

Any brand of Wireless Card can be worked with any other brand.. you should have to configure the protocol.. If the IP address is properly configured there is no problem, but the frequency and protocol must be the same.. You can use it..

As long as they are the same setting (801.1g or something like that) they should work together. Obviously you have a better chance of them finding each other and working together if they are the same brand.

They can be different. Think about when you go to a public place that has wireless. All kinds of wireless adapters go there and they work.
Cisco bought LinkSys btw.

It is not the brand that matters, it is whether they use the same standards (i.e 802.11a, b, g). If they both use 802.11g and so on, they will work together.

Any brand should work I think if they are compatible(i.e. 802.11 g, etc.). I usualy try to match if I am installing myself. Just a personal preference.

Nope, not at all. It just depends on what kind of Wi-fi it is, and if it is encripted, that the recving device can support encriptions. Learn more here http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/index.php/id;1395397229
