I see your point ... until you expand your map to include all of the Middle East. Israel is about the size of a postage stamp in comparison to the combined land mass of the other Arab countries. I realize that not all Palestinians are Muslim or Arab, but most are (as former citizens of the British Mandate, and prior to that, the Ottoman Empire). Why can't the self proclaimed Palestinians live in Syria, Jordan, or Egypt, if they want to live in a predominately Muslim country? Why do they have to destroy the Jewish government by force and replace it with a Moslem one?
I don't agree with everything that the nation of Israel does, but I have noticed that in all of the wars in which Israel gained territory, Israel was not the original aggressor.
I also realize that Israel does not allow Palestinians to become Israeli citizens easily (and most Palestinians do not try because they hate the predominately Jewish state), because Jews do not wish to become a minority in their own country (Sounds like Californian's attitude to Hispanics, doesn't it? But I digress) -- mainly due to the fact that in every country where Jews were a minority, they were, sooner or later, persecuted. If you were a Jew, would you want to live under a Palestinian run government, knowing that they have repeatedly bombed your city? If Hamas killed Jews when they are NOT in power, what will they do to Jews AFTER they gain power? I think that I see their perspective.

I think that the Palestinians lost most of that land because they attacked Israel and lost. The winner, Israel, took some of their land. The Palestinians should have quit while they were ahead.
